TAKE BACK YOUR SCHOOLS
In general, public schools follow guidance from the CDC as well as state & county public health department mandates and restrictions. This means that the way must be cleared at a state and local level for schools to be unshackled. However, teachers unions also play a huge role in determining the climate in schools, regardless of COVID.
There are a range of options available for taking back your schools:

- REQUEST AN IEP OR 504 PLAN FOR YOUR CHILD – If your child struggles to breathe, think, concentrate, concentrate or suffers emotional while wearing a mask, suffers from adverse reactions such as headaches, etc. or has difficulty hearing or communicating with others while wearing a mask, then this is an option. The 504 Plan is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law
and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution
receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and
access to the learning environment. Educators are required by law to meet with you as a parent to discuss accommodations. They cannot deny you a meeting or accommodation! Learn more about IEP and 504 Plans from Freedom Angels . - FORM A PRIVATE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (PEA)
- Get out from under statutes regulating schools that operate in the public domain – a PEA is like a PMA (Private Membership Association) where all members assume certain risks & abide by agreed upon rules. Learn more HERE.
- RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD
- ATTEND A PRIVATE OR CHARTER SCHOOL – these schools are not regulated in the same way as public schools and generally have a more autonomy and a much more congenial attitude toward the role of the parent
